Microsoft’s Skype has finally introduced a newer version of the website with a complete facelift, particularly focusing on its media sharing and social expression tools, to directly compete with other social communication tools like Slack and SnapChat.
Here are some of the things that are new to the online communication platform:
The updated desktop version introduces an updated user interface.
- Group chats are multi-colored.
- More Color on the platform
- Memory Highlight, similar to Instagram Stories
- New Add-ins to make activities such as booking tickets and finding information easy.
The features will prove to be quite useful. For example, a new media gallery can be viewed on the right side of a group chat, which makes locating shared files, like documents, spreadsheets, photos or other media easier.
To start a chat, group or call, one has to only tap the “+” button on the top left of the platform.
Group Calling has been updated as well. Users can now use Emojis to ‘react’ to what others are saying while on a video call.
The company is publicly launching the new version of Skype to the desktop including on Mac, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Linux.
