Instagram has rolled out two new features on its app viz. – “Stories Highlights” and “Stories Archive”
With the new update called “Stories Highlights” users can now hold on-to their favorite moments from Instagram stories and share them in ways that will help them express themselves. Instagram can now let users fully express their identity by grouping stories they’ve shared into highlights and featuring them on their profile. Stories Highlights will appear in a new section on your profile below your bio and there’s no limit on how many Stories Highlights can be displayed on an account’s profile page.
Instagram will not insert ads within Stories Highlights.
For creating a highlight users have to tap the “New” circle at the far left. From there, you can choose any stories from your archive and can select a cover for your highlight and give it a name. Once you’re done, your highlight will appear as a circle on your profile that plays as a stand-alone story when someone taps it. It will stay on your profile until you remove them. To edit or remove a highlight, just tap and hold that highlight in your profile.
Talking about the “Stories Archive”, Instagram stories will automatically get saved to an account in-app archive of posts, accounts can disable this auto-archiving feature.
To access the stories in the archive, users have to tap on the Archive icon in their profile. They can easily switch between their Posts archive and New Stories Archive. In Stories Archive, stories will appear in a grid with the most recent stories at the bottom. Stories from each day will show a date to help navigate through the archives as users scroll. Archived stories are visible to individuals only.
These features could further encourage Instagram Stories’ 300 million users to post more about a wider variety of content, knowing it won’t disappear and will have a prime real-estate on the app.
