Three years ago, when Facebook rolled out the mobile ‘like’ button, it worked seamlessly with the Facebook account. However, Facebook will soon be discontinuing the feature from 6 February 2018.

Single-tap buttons within a brand’s app to “Like” the brand’s Facebook page will not function. Post the alteration to the News Feed on Facebook, this update will significantly reduce engagement that brands leveraged from traffic coming onto their apps.

A spokesperson of the company said that developers can create their own buttons within the apps which redirects users to the company/brand’s Facebook pages on either the official app or online platform and “Like” it there.

In addition to this, Facebook is also disabling the “App invites” feature. Facebook has published an article around these and other changes that it will be releasing in the new Facebook SDK version 4.28.
